"Talking about death won't make it happen."

Here are some experiences people are having with Facing The Final Mystery:

A group of 5 couples in Hawaii each bought the book and felt so inspired that they created a Facing the Final Mystery day together :
"...we focused on Facing the Final Mystery. We had the most meaningful discussions on what dying and life after death means for each of us. We also discussed the importance of preparing ourselves with the help of the book and have an intention to follow up each month with various mental, emotional and spiritual tasks. Thank you for bringing the book to our annual reunion this year. Our group is facing these issues in part because of one member's prostate cancer and also due to other people's health issues and ages."

Here is a message from one of the couples after the weekend :
"We want to thank you for the wonderful weekend. What a group of loving, caring friends we all are. We can't imagine spending the major part of 24 hours discussing end of life issues and their many convoluted parts with anyone else. It was a great, productive weekend and it will positively affect our future thoughts and actions in this important area, both with all of you and within our own families. So, again, thank you and bless you all.
P.S. I have sent a copy of the book to each of my family members too. My parents are 87 and 88 and my twin sister's husband has prostate cancer too. We are receiving the benefit already, thanks to you and Laura Larsen. Please thank her for us."

A woman in New York received the book from a friend just as she was about to escort her 87 year old father through a large number of diagnostic tests, ordered by his doctor, even though he was clearly dying, and ready to go. After reading Facing the Final Mystery, she cancelled the tests, contacted Hospice care, and her father died peacefully two weeks later. She stated that the book gave her courage to take these steps that she felt were right but that she had not received support for, before reading the book.

"My daughter-in-law, age 38, read the book and began talking with her husband of 20 years, learning that many of their end-of-life wishes were the opposite of one another, and, that until then, they had never known about each other's thoughts. She then began wondering about the rest of her family. She initiated a lunch gathering with her sister, mother, father and stepmother, during which each person read each section of their Advance Directive to each other, discussing the difficult decisions and areas of ambivalence. Every one present felt a great benefit from doing this."

Another woman traveled to the other side of the country to be with her brother-in-law as he was dying. A friend gave her the book to take with her. Because of discord with her sister, she stayed in a hotel alone and felt Facing the Final Mystery to be very encouraging and supportive, allowing her to be present for some time each day with her brother-in-law, despite the difficulties with her sister.

From a person with a terminal diagnosis:
"I just finished reading Facing The Final Mystery and I would like to congratulate you on a job well done. The research was more than thorough and attention to detail made the readability exceptional. I particularly liked your little stories sprinkled throughout. You know when one is facing terminal illness one's thought process gets very limited. "I have cancer therefore I'm going to die!" Your book proves there are other options and we thank you for that. Good Luck. May the book fairy sell hundreds of thousands for you."
